Spring Break has arrived for Tallassee students, but before student-athletes depart for beach trips, there is still some ball to be played.

The THS baseball and softball teams had a big day on Monday facing archrival Reeltown at Southside.

The Tallassee varsity softball team beat the Rebels in a slugfest 20-10. Tallassee's junior varsity and varsity baseball teams split a doubleheader. The JV Tigers won 9-1. The varsity fell 4-2.

Madeline Weldon led the Tallassee girls belting two homeruns in a 2-for-3 day at the plate. She also picked up the win pitching six innings.

Weldon gave up nine runs but only two were earned. She struck out eight and walked one. One of her two dingers was a grand slam. She had five RBIs.

Tallassee (5-12) had 16 total hits. Kam Tate and Lila Kate Fulgham had three hits each. Marlee Osborne, Alli Smith and Olivia Hammonds added a pair of hits apiece.

In the varsity baseball game, Reeltown jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held off a Tallassee rally in the seventh to earn the season sweep. The Rebels beat Tallassee 9-8 in eight innings in February.

Jake Hornsby got the win for Reeltown (12-2) throwing five shutout innings with five strikeouts and three walks. Brady Mason took the loss for the Tigers (6-5) with five innings of work. He allowed three runs (two earned) while striking out four and walking two.

Blake Smith led Reeltown at the plate going 3-for-4. Tallassee's Bry Hathcock and Thomas Lemmond had two hits each.

In the JV game, Brandon Goodman picked up the win for Tallassee (6-3-1) with a complete game performance. Goodman gave up one run in five innings. He struck out three and walked one.

Jack Butler was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Abrahm Whittington, Bradley Smith, Avery Brantley, Jayden Griggs and Kole Burton added hits.

The JV and varsity teams travel to Beauregard on Tuesday for a doubleheader. The JV starts at 4:30 p.m. followed by the varsity. The slate is clean afterwards until the return to classes next week.
