Obituary

Mr. James 'Jim' Ellis Hughes, apassed away Monday August 29, 2022.  Jim was born in Montgomery, Alabama on August 31, 1957.

Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years Daiann; son Rhoades, his wife Natalie, and their daughter Zella; son Travis, his wife Jody, and their two daughters Evelyn and Amelia; daughter Emily Boswell, her husband Jeremy, and their two daughters Chevie and Cheyenne.  He is also survived by his sister Leigh Taylor and her husband James.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rhoades Webb and Cleo Mae Hughes, as well as his brother Michael Hughes.

Jim was an exceptional mechanic and handyman.  He worked for Genpak corporation for over 30 years.  Prior to meeting his wife, Jim's first love was whatever motorcycle he was currently riding around Montgomery.  After he met Daiann, Jim lived exclusively for his family and loved ones.  He took exceptional pride in caring for his yard and property on Rifle Range Road, where his family prospered for over 30 years.  He loved the water, whether it be Lake Martin where he spent years of his life, or his pool and hot tub, where he also spent years of his life.  He loved singing and giving advice in his spare time.  In the final years of his life, Jim most enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters while he was beating the hell out of cancer.

Memorial services will be held Friday, September 2 at Redland Hills Church, 3105 Rifle Range Road, Wetumpka, Alabama, 36093. The family will receive friends from 3:00PM until service time at 4:00PM, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing.  The family will host a wake at their home on Friday night at 3172 Little Road in Tallassee following the funeral at 6:30pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family would love to ask for donations to a local organization that offers spiritual, financial, and emotional support to children and families on the pediatric cancer journey: https://ateamministries.org/donate/  (or to any other charity of your choice.)
