Council appoints Mosher

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee City Council has filled the vacant Ward 2 seat. Longtime Tallassee resident and business owner Linda Mosher is the choice.

New mayor Sarah Hill was serving Ward 2 in her second term before her appointment to replace Johnny Hammock on July 1. Hill hoped the council would have her replacement in place by Aug. 1. That came to fruition at the Tuesday, July 26 council meeting.

"I'm from Tallassee, and I've always loved Tallassee," Mosher said. "I have a great passion for seeing this town grow."

Mosher has owned and operated Linda's Copyright Clothing in downtown Tallassee for 28 years.

"I've seen a lot of ups and downs," she said. "I see so much that we can do in this town - not only downtown but all over - that will make us grow and succeed. We have a lot of new people - young people, who are moving back opening businesses.

"We're also seeing a great increase in people moving into our area. We want to make it business friendly, as well as environmentally friendly for the people who are moving here. We have a great city council, a great mayor, and I would like to be part of that movement. I hope that my experience in business will lend something."
