Cross country team competes at state

The Tallassee High School cross country team has ended its season. The boys team was 14th overall at the state meet last weekend at the Oakville Indian Mounds.

Woodrow Dean was 16th overall in the 5k race, running a 17:04.86. Dean was the third fastest freshman in the event. Caleb Mason was Tallassee's second highest finisher with a 19:05.76 for Tallassee. Baxlee Burton, Clay Johnson, Brady Mason, Alex Harrison, Grant McCraney, Jacob Patterson, and Connor Worley also qualified for the state.

The boys team had an average time of 19:48 this season.

THS senior Catherine Crawford  ran a  5k time of 23:58.97 at the state meet.

"She completed her cross country career at Tallassee with a personal best time of 22:38.67, which she ran at the sectional meet in Mobile," Tallassee head coach Danny Worley said. "Catherine was a three-time state cross country meet qualifier. She was a member of the cross country team since the eighth grade."
