More honors for Delfin

Tallassee's Irvin Delfin has added another accolade to his 2024 record-setting soccer season. The two-time all-state pick has been named all-region by the United Soccer Coaches Association. The Boys Spring South Region team was announced last week.

"Irvin was one of 18 players selected," said Tallassee head coach Matthew Tarpley. " (He) led the state - the nation in goals."

Delfin scored 65 goals, breaking his own team record of 30 set the previous season. He still has a senior season to play next year.

"He's an amazing player, but more than that he's an amazing kid. His grades are really good. He takes his academics seriously. He works really hard on and off the field. He's doing all the right things."

Delfin will play in the North/South All-Star Game during Alabama All-Star Sports Week on Wednesday, July 17 at 7 p.m. at the Emory Folmer Soccer Complex in Montgomery.
