Daniels has big night in Reeltown again

By Michael Butler

When the 2021 football season opened on Aug. 19 in Reeltown, Tallassee's Jalyn Daniels put on a show.

The senior running back ran the ball 31 times for 328 yards en route to a 34-13 Tigers' victory.

Daniels returned to RHS on Friday, Dec. 10 in a different jersey (a THS basketball tank top) - but the result was similar with another big night and Tallassee win. He scored 35 in the 65-39 victory.

"Jalyn is one of the toughest competitors and players I have ever coached," THS head coach Keiven Mixson said. "He just has extreme abilities. He has started since tenth grade. He can give you whatever you want any night. (He's) a great defender, great rebounder and can score. There's not much he can't do."

The success of Daniels has helped Tallassee reel off five straight wins after an 0-2 start. He was the leading scorer in Reeltown's trip to Tallassee on Monday - a 58-29 win. Tim Washington scored 11 and Demontae Washington added 10 for the Tigers.

Tallassee (5-2) gets a chance to avenge a season-opening one-point loss to Loachapoka when the two meet at Stumberg Gym on Tuesday, Dec. 14. The junior varsity boys game starts at 4:30 followed by the varsity girls and boys games.
