Battles to take PCA job

By Michael Butler

Mike Battles has accepted the defensive coordinator's position at Prattville Christian Academy. Battles will also serve as a baseball assistant.

Battles spent the past 12 years at Tallassee compiling a 78-54 record and making the post-season eight times. He has 27 years of head coaching experience in Alabama with a record of 195-109.

In a Facebook post by the school, Battles called PCA a "special place" and made reference to the opportunity for his son Mason to spend his senior year there.

"I am excited to continue in what I love doing and provide this opportunity for my son to strengthen his faith even more," he added.

Battles will work with Norman Dean, a former opposing coach at rival Elmore County. Dean begins his fourth season at PCA this year. Overall, he begins his 17th year as a head coach in August.
