Babe Ruth stars compete at Regional

Dwight Yoakam had a hit song called, "A Thousand Miles from Nowhere." Plainview, Texas is about a thousand miles from Tallassee.
Tallassee's 14-year-old all-stars made the long trek to West Texas, about 15 hours by car for the Babe Ruth Regionals.
The Tigers went 1-2 and finished in the top five among nine teams.
Tallassee beat host Plainview on Saturday, 7-4. Plainview was not your avergage host team. They had beaten Picayune, Miss. on day one of the tournament 26-1.
Tallassee's bid for the World Series came up short with a pair of losses on Sunday. An eight-run first inning by Ozark, Ark. was too much to overcome as the purple and gold fell 13-9. Tallassee then lost to South Brazoria County, Texas in the nightcap 12-2 in five innings.
There is one local league all-star team still playing. Tallassee's 6U softball team will play in the SweeTees World Series in Alexandria, La. in August.
