All-Star teams prepare for second season

The regular seasons are complete, but for some ball players the season continues. Tallassee has assembled its all-star teams in its youth baseball and softball leagues.
Practices have begun with new rosters for each age group. In baseball, five teams will participate in Dixie Youth Tournaments. Two softball teams are headed to National Softball Association tourneys.
The action begins soon for most teams. Three DYB teams are in Montgomery this weekend for the annual AUM Dixie All-Star Jamboree.
Teams will get some action on Saturday, June 2 without any bearing on advancing through the all-star post-season. Tallassee's 10U, 8U all-star and 8U rookie teams will be in competition with two practice games per team scheduled.
Sub-district tournaments the following week will count for seeding purposes only. The 12U team kicks off play on June 8 at East Montgomery. Tallassee will host a 10U sub-district on June 7, 8 and 9. The 8U team will begin its sub-district at East Montgomery on June 8.

The Tallassee 6U and 8U softball all-stars will be busy in the month of June as well. The girls get underway with a pre-area tournament at Coaling on June 2. The following week, both teams have another pre-area tourney slated at Eclectic.
Two Tallassee Dixie Youth teams advanced to the state last year; the 10U stars and 10U rookies. Tallassee's 6U softball all-star group from 2017 won the Dixie Youth state championship.
Alexander City is the host for the NSA state tournament this year. The DYB O-Zone (12U) state tournament is in Greenville this year. The AAA (10U) state championships will be in Eufaula. The AA (8U) Coach Pitch finals are in Dothan. All rookie title tournaments are in Oxford this year. The DYB World Series is in Lumberton, NC.
