GKN Aerospace of Tallassee is having a hiring event on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 23 and 24. It will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. each day.
“We’re in need of a bunch of composite workers,” said Vee Langton with Human Resources at GKN. “These will consist of working assembly and layup. We need some experienced composite operators. We’ll take entry level as well because we do train, but preferably experienced. We do have other opportunities outside of the composite workers, but that’s our main focus right now. If we see other talent, we’ll hold on to resumes.”

The additional workforce is needed for additional projects with General Electric.
“We’re looking to grow in that area, so we’re ramping up,” added Langston, who’s been with the local industry for five years. “(We’ll) probably have 100 more employees by the end of the year.”
GKN currently employs 550 at its Tallassee facility on Highway 229. The additional hirees will be for all three shifts.
“We would like people to come out,” Langston said. “It’s basically to see who we are as a company. We’ve been here over 40 years.”
