The Tallassee baseball team ran its winning streak up to nine with a sweep of Catholic in Class 4A/Area 5 action this week. The Tigers beat the Knights 5-1 on Tuesday in Tallassee and 3-0 on Wednesday in Montgomery.
Tallassee improved to 12-9 overall and 5-0 in area play.
“(I’m) glad we have everything in our hands going forward,” said THS head coach John Goodman.
In the series opener at Southside Field, Jack Butler picked up the win with 5 1/3 innings of work allowing one run. Hamp Love and Avery Brantley closed it out. The Tigers belted out 10 hits led by Brue Milner and Abram Whittington with three each.
On Wednesday, Brantley and Love combined for the shutout win. Brantley pitched 3 1/3 innings for the victory. Whittington had three hits.

“I believe that the success we are having right now is due to our seniors picking up the leadership,” Goodman added. “Our young players are following in their footsteps.”
The senior players will be recognized on Thursday, April 9 for Senior Night against area foe LAMP. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. Airtime on WTLS and Tallassee Times TV on YouTube will be 4:30.
