Coach Pat Love’s Tallassee High School softball team is 6-1, the program’s best start since 2020. That team lost the season opener and reeled of 15 straight victories before the season prematurely ended due to Covid-19.
“It’s too early to tell,” Love said of the 2026 group being on the level as the 2020 squad that ended the season ranked No. 1 in the state. “I think we’ve got a chance to be there at the end if we keep getting better.”
The Tigers’ lone blemish came against Rehobeth in the Wetumpka Tournament last week. Tallassee won 3 of 4 games there.

“Our pitching has been great,” Love added. “The defense has cut down on the errors. Hitting has been on, especially in situations.”
Marlee Osborne is 4-0 with a 2.73 ERA. Kam Tate is 2-1 with a save and a 1.86 ERA. The team is batting .317 led by Olivia Hammonds and Cheyann Easterling. Hammonds has a .588 average with 14 RBIs. Easterling is hitting .571with 12 runs scored and 11 stolen bases.
“We’re still young but with some good, seasoned players. I like where we are. We’ve had several close games and found ways to win.”
Tallassee plays next in the St. James Tournament on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7.
