Ministry tackles "real-life issues"
By Michael Butler
About 15 years ago, Kimbery Fraley had an idea to connect women with a ministry of fellowship regarding everyday obstacles.
That concept led to the organization of the Sisterhood of Love and Faith Women's Ministry. Fraley was visiting with friends when the discussions began.
"There's a separation in unity with women," Fraley said. "The bond of sisterhood is closeness with women. Love and faith are characteristics of God. We wanted to come together not based on denomination, race or age."
The group has had meetings digging into serious topics like suicide awareness and women's safety.
"We've done many conferences and everyone is welcome."
The ministry has met at local homes and churches but as of late used technology to get out its message.
"Everything right now is via Facebook or YouTube," said Fraley. "We're working on trying to find a building (to meet) every month."
There is one focus that remains regardless of topics discussed.

"We want to keep God at the center point. It's a ministry. We don't want to just put on concerts or singings. We want to deal with real-life issues to help someone become closer to God."
That being said, Fraley has another approach that might vary from other ministries.
"I want to be different. That's why I did the suicide awareness. I don't hear many ministries talking about this at all. We need to raise awareness. We want to touch on the realities of life. Everything is not peaches and cream."
Plans are to have the next meeting in September on suicide awareness. The next women's safety awareness conference is expected in December. Details will be posted on Facebook.
