Dr. Nic on his first day

Like father, like son

By Leigh Anne Butler

Many Tallassee football fans remember Nic Mullins’ game-winning 45-yard field goal against Charles Henderson in 2012. Now you can call him doctor. Mullins is back in his hometown practicing optometry with his father.

Dr. Nic had a clear vision when he decided to join his dad, Dr. Paris Mullins, who has been practicing in Tallassee since May of 1986.

Nic joined the practice soon after graduating from the UAB School of Optometry in May of 2021. He completed his undergraduate degree at Auburn University in 2017.

“I’ve been seeing Dr. Mullins since he began practicing in Tallassee and I have 100 percent faith in him taking care of my eyes. Today was my first visit with Dr. Nic and he gets an A plus from me,” Suzy Wilson, a long-time patient stated after a recent office visit. “As a photographer, I consider my vision to be my top priority. Tallassee is fortunate to have two extremely skilled and compassionate eye doctors and their staff is top-notch.”

Like father, like son. Paris is one proud pop.

“It has been a blessing to welcome Nic to my practice as my associate doctor and even better my son. He has brought freshness and his small-town values with him. Although I have no intention on retiring, it warms my heart to know that both Nic and I, as a team, will be able to provide excellence in eyecare to our community for many years to come.”

Along with the addition of Dr. Nic, the current office building is currently undergoing a redesign.  The practice has expanded the office with a new patient care wing. The practice provides full-scope primary and medical eyecare services in addition to prescription eyewear, sunglasses and contact lenses.

In addition to the new job, Nic is also a newlywed.  He married Taylor Willis of Reeltown last month.
