City looks to fill open council seat

By Michael Butler

With Sarah Hill's move from city council to mayor, there is now a vacancy in Ward 2.

Hill was in her second term on the council before her appointment to mayor on July 1.

"I'm really excited," said Hill. "There have been about five people who have reached out to me. I'm going to forward that to the council. I assume they're going to talk about it. Hopefully by the start of August we'll have someone appointed for that position."

The choice of who joins the other six council members will be, like the mayor's postion, selected by the city council. They have 60 days to make a decision.

The current term for the mayor and the council expires in 2025.

Hill, 40, is a 1999 graduate of Tallassee High School. She is a realtor at Fuller Realty and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Business Administration with a Master's in Organizational Management from Troy University. She is a former graduate and board member of Leadership Elmore County.
