Chamber awards to be presented via Facebook webcast

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet will be on Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. at Restoration 49. Once again, the event will be virtual as was the case last year.

The silent auction will be a separate event on Friday, March 4 from 5-8 p.m. at Restoration 49, Grove Station and the Chamber of Commerce office. Proceeds from the auction go toward the Chamber's Ambassador Scholarship Program.

"The mission of the Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Program is to develop civic leadership traits in selected youth," Chamber director Jerry Cunningham said. "By working cooperatively with the Tallassee Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, student ambassadors will learn about business development, tourism and marketing. Furthermore, they will gain an invaluable understanding of how our local business community works.

"In an effort to increase the amount and /or number of scholarships that the Chamber awards each year we are holding the Silent Auction to raise funds to benefit the Ambassador Scholarship Program.  With this in mind we are asking for the Tallassee business community to donate items valued at $50 or more to be offered in the silent auction."

Those interested in taking part in the auction may contact Cunningham at 334-312-2679.

As for the banquet, it will be broadcast via the Chamber's Facebook page with awards for: the Francis Wagnon Volunteer of the Year, Business of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award and President's Award.
