Tallassee in Pictures: City Hall
By Michael Butler
It was the East Tallassee School dating back to 1925. It housed Tallassee Elementary School until a new building was erected in 1995. After renovations, the red brick building became the home of City Hall in 1997.
For almost 100 years, the structure at 3 Freeman Avenue on the east side of the Tallapoosa has been the hub for development and progress from early education to city government.
Today, City Hall holds municipal court, in addition to city council and various other public meetings and events. Residents may also register for drivers licenses and car tags. During voting cycles, it is a polling place for select elections.
It is the headquarters for the city utilities department and offices for the mayor, city clerk and building inspector.
