Meet the new intern

By Bonnie Pavelonis

Hi! My name is Bonnie Pavelonis and I am very excited to introduce myself as the newest intern for the Tallassee Times. I am from St. Louis, Mo. and am currently a senior at Spring Hill College in Mobile working towards a Broadcast Journalism degree.

I have been a part of the Springhillian, my college's newspaper, as well as featured on our weekly broadcast show "Spring Hill Now" as the lead anchor.

I am also a part of the sorority Tri Delta, where I met Mr. Butler's daughter, Georgia, who introduced me to the Tallassee Times.

My love for radio and journalism have stemmed from my mother, who started her radio career at WABB in Mobile, followed by becoming vice president of CBS Radio and IHeart Media in St. Louis. I always knew I wanted to follow in her footsteps. This has led me to intern for Frank Cusumano at 590 the Fan, where I learned the ropes of how a radio production is made.

As much as the college environment provides me with the opportunity to learn about broadcast and journalism, I am excited to take on this role for Tallassee Times and gain a new perspective on what the job entails.

I am most excited to learn more about Tallassee as a town. From looking over previous stories on the website I can tell Tallassee is full of small-town connections. The high school sports teams receive immense support from the community. And, there is a great history behind the town, which I cannot wait to become a part of.

After graduating in the spring, I hope to further my career working as a sports reporter, maybe even reporting from the sidelines!
