Trade Day last year

Chamber changing up fall events

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee Chamber of Commerce has been putting on its annual Trade Day since 1989. This year, the event is being replaced.

"We're not going to do Trade Day this year," Chamber of Commerce executive director Michone Roye said. "Don't panic. We're going to try something different. Sometimes different is good."

Roye stated that the interest in Trade Day has dwindled some in recent years.

"Our vendor counts have gone down, as well as those in attendence. It's not been in extreme, but gradually. We just felt like we ought to try something different. We still want to do something to bring the community out and give them something to do."

The board of directors are entertaining the idea of a concert during the fall season called "Rocking on the River." More details will be forthcoming.
