Mill project gets input on restaurant options
By Michael Butler
The Mt. Vernon Mills Transformation Project tossed out a question on its Facebook page. "We would like to take a poll of your favorite restaurant. We will be putting in a couple."
The post drew hundreds of comments and votes on the group's page as well as the share on Tallassee Times through Facebook.
There were five options to choose from; steak, Italian, Greek, Japanese or Middle Eastern. Steak was the top pick by voters with Italian next.
MVMTP noted that no chain restaurants or buffets would be considered.
"Thank yall so much for voting. The developers that own the property only deal with five-star restaurants, so that means no buffet or fast food. The restaurant's will happen but they have to be supported in order to stay open. I feel the community and surrounding area's will do their part. We will have another vote on something else at a later date. Your opinion really does matter."
The group also requested community feedback on the design for the main building in a recent post.
Cleanup has been ongoing on the east side property for months now. The total project will be a multi-million dollar investment.
