Love among scholarship winners

Tallassee High School senior Lexi Love was named the recipient of the Girl's Athletic Award at the Joe Sewell Memorial Awards Banquet on May 4 at the Wetumpka Civic Center. Former Alabama quarterback Brodie Croyle was the keynote speaker.

The award was established in 2005 to recognize outstanding high school senior athletes in Elmore County who have consistently represented the highest ideals of Christian leadership. 

Love is a member of First United Methodist Church in Tallassee and Alabama Rural Ministries. She plays softball at THS and participates in track and field. She will be attending Chattanooga State on a softball scholarship. Love is the daughter of Pat and Heidi Love and was a 9th grade Joe Sewell certificate winner.

Other Tallassee High nominees were Jalen Cobb, Jacob Ingram and Haleigh May. Tallassee's 9th grade certificate winners were: Brady Mason, Jacob Patterson, Trey Bosch and Macey Stewart.
