How Tallassee voted

By Michael Butler

The 2024 U.S. Presidential Election is complete. Donald Trump, who was elected as the 45th president in 2016, will be sworn in as the 47th Commander-in-Chief in January.

This is the third time in the past three election cycles that Trump has appeared on the ballot. Like his numbers statewide, Trump has won convincingly locally each time. Tuesday was no exception.

Trump received 1,822 voted to 503 for Kamala Harris, winning Tallassee's total boxes with 78 percent of votes cast. Trump's numbers were decisive in nearby Kent as well, taking in 1,001 votes to 109 for Harris, 89 percent of the total. In Friendship, Trump received 76 percent totalling 484 votes to 150 for Harris.

In comparison to the last two elections, numbers in Tallassee were slightly down. Four years ago, 2,531 voted compared to 2,325 this year. In 2016, 2,441 turned out to the three polling locations within the city limits.

Trump's advantage over Harris in Tallassee was slightly greater at 78 percent than the 75 percent he received locally in 2020 over Joe Biden. In 2016, he got 78 percent of votes cast versus Hillary Clinton.
