THS principal recognized
By Michael Butler
Tallassee High School principal Matt Coker has received a distinguished honor. He was named Principal of the Year for District 4 by the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS).
"It's certainly a big honor," said Coker. "It's probably not as big as some people are making it, but I'm thankful. It's always good to be recognized when you're doing your job. This is an award that you're recognized by your peers. As a matter of fact, Mr. (Micah) Cook from the middle school nominated me first."
Coker added that Ross Reed from Auburn Junior High School also nominated him.
"They had come down last year, Auburn City Schools, to meet with us concerning going one-to-one with their iPads. We were very open with Ross, and I think he was appreciative of that.
"It's a school award. Our school system is well thought of. When you talk about Tallassee City Schools, I think that has a lot more to do with it than the individual."
