Wrestlers battle the best in Hoover
A trio of Tallassee wrestlers found success on the mats against some of the nation's top wrestlers. The event was held at the Finley Center in Hoover.
Mason Nelson is a national champion. Land Bell is a national runner-up. Thomas Patterson placed fourth in his class.
Nelson and Bell were both 9-3 overall vs. wrestlers from across the country at the Deep South National Duals/Summer Nationals. Patterson went 6-5.
Nelson grabbed first in the individual portion of the weekend event.
"I would like to thank all of the coaches who have helped train me since I was five years old," Nelson said, "and a special thanks to Jason Eldridge for opening up Alpha Elite and giving me an opportunity to train. I'd also like to thank TJ Graham for coaching me throughout the summer. This has been a goal of mine since I was six and that success is earned - never given."
