Tallassee to host state duals

The AHSAA State Duals get underway this week. Tallassee is the host site for Region 2 beginning on Friday.

The Tigers are 13-0 in duals matches this season.

Six schools will be competing on the THS campus; Beauregard, Benjamin Russell, Opelika, Pike Road, Russell County and Tallassee.

Tallassee has beaten Beauregard (70-12), Opelika (45-33) and Russell County (63-15) already in November and December.

"We will need to wrestle our best," head coach John Mask said of the first round. "We are excited to host this great tournament and we are really looking forward to getting back on the mat."

Tallassee last wrestled on Dec. 16 vs. Opelika. The team canceled its planned trip to the Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Beast at the Beach Tournament.

Wrestling starts on Friday, Jan. 7 at 5:30 p.m. and and at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8. Tickets will be available through GoFan.
