Tallassee girls to play for World Series title
By Michael Butler
The Tallassee 6U softball all-stars have been steamrolling the competition as team Alabama in Alexandria, La. Now, they are just one win away from the World Series crown.
The Tallassee girls opened play on Saturday with a 21-5 win over South Carolina in four innings. The girls beat West Monroe on Sunday 22-1 in four innings.
Monday was a marathon day thanks to a Sunday rainout. Tallassee topped Mississippi 15-3 in three innings playing under the lights at night. The next game began close to midnight and did not end until early Tuesday morning with Tallassee defeating Tennessee 22-18.
Tallassee has not dropped a single game in cruising through all levels of National Softball Association (NSA) and Dixie Youth Softball tournament play.
For the championship Tallassee meets Mississippi again, a team they made short work of on Monday. Mississippi will have to win twice. Action starts at 5:30 on Tuesday evening.
