Basketball Tigers get 20th win

Staff Report

Tallassee got a 20-point win for its 20th win of the season on Senior Night Monday at Stumberg Gym. The Tigers avenged an earlier loss to Beauregard with a 74-54 victory.

A hoarse Keiven Mixson was ecstatic about hitting the 20-win mark.

"That was one of our team goals," the coach stated. "I think our guys were focused on win number 20. It was crucial because, we secure No. 2 or No. 3."

The regular season area slate is complete. A loss would have dropped Tallassee into the No. 4 spot having to play the top seed on their home floor in the area tournament.

Brewbaker Tech and Valley will determine host team is. Both have 3-2 records in the area. Tallassee is now 3-3 in the area. Beauregard is locked as the No. 4 seed with a 2-4 record.

Three Tallassee players scored in double digits. Jamicah Humphery led all scorers with 22 points. Sandarius Hughley had 17. Tyrek Turner added 13.

The Tigers wrap up the regular season with games vs. Catholic (Jan. 31) and at Stanhope Elmore (Feb. 1). The area tournament will be Feb. 8-13.
