Tigers get back on court

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee High School basketball returned to the hardwood for the first time since Dec. 5. The Tigers lost to Wetumpka in the Elmore County Tournament 68-63 on Friday in Holtville falling to 3-3 on the season. Tallassee's quest for a three-peat was denied.

This week, Tallassee will play its first area game of the season at Brewbaker Tech, the team they beat last year in the area tournament final.

The game is on Tuesday in Montgomery. It's the first of six area games on the schedule.

Tallassee's next home game is on Thursday at Stumberg Gym, a rescheduled meeting with Calhoun and superstar guard JD Davison. The Alabama signee is averaging 44 points per game this year.

Seating for home events is limited.

"Due to the continued spread of COVID-19 in our community, Tallassee City Schools will be reducing the number of spectators at our sporting events," superintendent Dr. Brock Nolin said.

For home basketball games, only 120 tickets will be sold. 90 of those tickets are alloted for the home team. The remaining will be sold for visiting fans.

1300 WTLS/106.5 FM will be broadcasting the THS/Calhoun game on Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. Live video will be available through Tiger Nation and Tallassee Times TV on YouTube.
