Rec department launches 3-on-3 league

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee Recreation Department is now offering a 3-on-3 adult basktball league. Games are being played on Sunday afternoons at 3:00.

"Curry Hoyle came up with the idea," league coordinator Jamelle Jelks said.

"They're having 3-on-3 in different counties surrounding us, so we decided to see what we could do. We have six teams. We're putting the fans on one side of the court and play on the other half."

Games will be ten minutes per half and will be officiated.

"We've got some interesting players; John Aldridge, Jamie Patterson, Antonio Williams, Keith Tuck," Jelks said of some of the participants.

The first games were played last weekend. The season runs through Aug. 26. There is no admission for spectators, which Jelks encourages.

"Hopefully everybody will come out and watch."
