2022-23 schedules set

By Michael Butler

Tallassee received reclassification numbers for fall sports last Tuesday. On Thursday, the region schedule for football was confirmed. Now the Tigers have their full schedules set for the next two seasons.

With a six-team region in Class 5A/Region 4, that left five non-region opponents to fill the entire slate.

Games versus Reeltown, Booker T. Washington, Marbury, Chilton County and Holtville will be played on those weeks. Holtville, a region foe the last two years, is moving from Region 4 to Region 3 in 5A.

Like the previous two seasons, Reeltown will be the opener on a Thursday night. The 2022 game will be in Tallassee. The 2023 game will be played in Reeltown.

Six of the ten scheduled games are against opponents the Tigers played during the last two-year schedule cycle (Reeltown, Clay Central, Beauregard, Elmore County, Sylacauga, Holtville).

Elmore County and Tallassee have played every year since 1971.

THS last played BTW in 2013 when the two teams were in the same region in 4A. The Tigers last played Marbury in 2015 when both were in the same region in 5A. Tallassee and Valley last played in 2019 in a 5A/Region 2 matchup. The last meeting with Chilton County was in 2013 in a non-region game.
