Baynes recognized by AHSAA

Tallassee graduate Casey Baynes had an eventful week during Alabama High School Sports Week in Montgomery. Baynes played in the North/South All-Star Football Game on Thursday. And he was one of ten student scholarship winners at the 22nd Annual Championship Coaches Awards Banquet on Friday.

Baynes participated in last year's all-star baseball game at Sports Week and will be playing baseball at Southern Union next season.

The awards banquet concluded the AHSAA Summer Conference at the Montgomery Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center. Approximately 5,000 administrators, coaches and support personnel attended the week-long conference which included ten sports competitions.

The North beat the South 27-14 in the 59th playing of the North-South football all-star game to close out the week.

Gov. Kay Ivey was the keynote speaker at the awards banquet with the presentation of "Making a Difference" awards.

Baynes was eligible for the "Children Scholarship" as a son of an AHSADCA member coach or administrator. His dad is Coach Mark Baynes with Tallassee. Casey was the award recipient for District 4.
