John Goodman is now 6-4 in year one of his return to THS. He was 316-206 in 16 seasons from 1993-2008. Tallassee had its worst season in program history last year going 4-25. The 2021 team was 7-16-1. They were 8-6 in the Covid-shortened 2020 season.

"Back when I was here before, our number one goal was to win an area championship. Number two was to win a state championship," Goodman said prior to the season. "Now, our number one goal is to make the playoffs. Number two is to have a chance to win an area championship and then go deep into the playoffs."

The Tigers are still a few weeks away from area play. After winning 10-3 vs. Dadeville on Saturday, Goodman noted that the team still lacked something.

"We struggled with our emotions and never could get in sync," he said. "I'm not taking anything away from the win. I told the guys after the game if you can win and not feel 100 percent about how you played, you are getting better."

Tallassee gets a return trip from Montgomery Academy on Tuesday, March 14 at 4:30 p.m. at Southside Field. The Eagles topped the Tigers in the season opener 11-9 on Feb. 20.
