Tommy Wisener is back for one last hurrah as the Tallassee 16U skipper

Babe Ruth all-stars ready for regionals

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee Babe Ruth Baseball League is fielding two all-star teams this summer. Both will be playing in Southwest Regional Tournaments this month.

The 13 and 14-year-old squad went to Arkansas last year after winning the state tournament in Tallassee in the 13 division. This year they are headed to Starkville, Miss. The team is coached again by Tommy Burton.

Tommy Wisener is back to head up the 16U group that was last year's runner-up in the state tourney also held in Tallassee. State champ Opp, who beat the Tigers and won last year's Southwest Regional advancing to the World Series, is back in the bracket again this year. The regional will be in Mobile.

Teams report for the 16U tournament on July 10. The 13 and 14 regional opens up for teams on July 17. The World Series for the 16U will be in Branson, Mizz. The 14U World Series will be played in Eagle Pass, Texas.
