All stars in full swing

The summer season is here for local baseball and softball teams. Tallassee has fielded four all-star softball teams ranging from 6U - 12U. There are four more baseball teams from 8U - 15U.
The Tallassee girls are competing in USA Softball and have completed two pre-area tournaments in Wetumpka and Prattville over the last two weekends.

In Wetumpka, the Tallassee 6U team was 3-0 in pool play with wins over Prattville 10-8, Clanton 16-4 and Millbrook 14-7. They were 2-1 in bracket play with victories over Marbury 15-3 and Prattville 16-2 before falling in the title game to Wetumpka 14-13.
The 8U squad was the champion. They were 1-1 in pool play with a 22-2 win over North Chilton and a 15-11 loss to Millbrook. In bracket play, the girls swept the field with wins over Millbrook (18-5), Wetumpka (17-12) and Prattville (13-9).
The 10U girls went 0-2 in pool play losing to Prattville Gray 10-9 and Millbrook 6-0. They lost to Prattville Cardinal 11-1 in bracket play.
The 12U stars were 0-2 in pool play with defeats vs. Prattville (15-3) and Alex City (18-1). Their lone bracket play game was a 7-3 loss to Prattville.
In Prattville, Tallassee's 6U girls swept the field in pool play; Alex City (19-1), Marbury (15-6) and Clanton (20-4). They followed it up with a 2-0 record in bracket play to win the tournament; Clanton (17-14) and Wetumpka (17-16).
The 8U group was undefeated in pool play with wins over Wetumpka 13-11 and Alex City 28-4. They made it two pre-area titles with victories over Alex City 23-2 and Prattville 12-9.
The 10U was 0-3 in pool competition; North Chilton (7-3), Millbrook (15-2) and and Wetumpka (9-5). They were knocked out of bracket play with 7-2 loss to North Chilton.
The 12U went 0-2 in pool play with setbacks against Prattville (15-2) and Wetumpka (14-2). North Chilton beat them in bracket play 13-1.
All four Tallassee teams move to area tournaments this week (June 16-18) at the Charles E. Bailey Sportsplex in Alex City.

A trio of Tallassee baseball teams (8U, 10U, 12U) participated in the USSSA Region 7 Tournament in Wetumpka from June 6-12.
The 8U guys were 2-2 with wins vs. Wetumpka Gold (15-5) and Marbury (13-5). Both losses were to Wetumpka Black, 19-2 and 15-11.
The 10U boys went 1-2 beating Wetumpka Black (11-10) and losing to Wetumpka Gold (12-1) and Millbrook (9-8). The 8U team was 2-2 with losses to Wetumpka Black, 19-2 and 15-11. Wins came against Wetumpka Gold (15-5) and Marbury (13-5).
The 12U team took first place going 5-0 with wins over Wetumpka 9-5, Eclectic 3-0, Holtville 15-0, Eclectic 7-4 and Marbury 13-7.
State tournament play will be in Pell City, Lincoln and Oxford for the the three boys age groups. The 12U team will begin play on June 16. The 8U and 10U teams start on June 23.
The Babe Ruth 15U all stars will not begin action until the state tournament on June 24 in Sylacauga.
