Suspects in Highway 229 shooting still at large

Tallassee police are still searching for suspects involved in an Aug. 3 shooting on Highway 229 near GKN. Multiple shots were fired from pursuing cars into another seriously injuring one of the passengers.

"We are not certain what the motivation was behind it," said Tallassee Chief of Police Todd Buce. "We do have some videos that we put out. We're thinking maybe it was a mistaken identity."

Buce requests anyone with information to contact the department. Tallassee police have already received tips.

"The video shows that two vehicles were following the victim's vehicle," Buce said. "I can't remember exactly how may shell casings we located but there were several shots fired. You can hear it from one of the local business' video systems. They actually have audio."

The incident occured on a Saturday with a time stamp of 10:28 p.m. Investigators released a video of two vehicles identified as a black four-door sedan and a black SUV.

"We had one female victim," Buce added. "She suffered some serious injuries, but I think she's out of ICU."
