School board member Lacey Brewer passed away in February after complications from COVID-19

Brewer to be included with inductees

The Tallassee High School Alumni Association will be inducting its 2021 class into the Hall of Pride on Thursday, March 18 at 10 a.m. in the 1220 Annex (warehouse) at 1220 Café at 1220 Gilmer Avenue.

As previously announced, inductees include Auburn University PH.D. candidate Michelle Hayes Cole, a 1992 graduate, Sylvia Farrow Phillips, a 1974 graduate who is a retired educator, and the late Olivia Pienezza Solomon, an author and folklorist, Class of 1955.  The late John Edward (Hot) O’Brien will be recognized with the Service Award.

In addition to those already selected, the late Lacey Brewer will also be honored.  Lacey was a founding member of the alumni association and the secretary.  A Neptune employee for 30 years, she also served on the school board and was active in many organizations in Tallassee, including McCraney-Cottle Arts Council, Mt. Vernon Theatre, the Community Library Board, Kiwanis Club, and First United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the Alan Cowan Sunday Class.  Lacey was a member of the Class of 1985 and held the class together,  including insisting they maintain a sign at the football stadium every year.

The public is invited to the ceremony.  Masks are required on campus, and social distancing will be observed.
