Flag Team Dominates in Opener

The Tallassee flag football Tigers started the 2025 season with a 46-6 win at Loachapoka.

Merchants and vendors will fill the downtown Tallassee area on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

What a difference a week makes. The season opener for the Tallassee football team could not have gone worse last Friday. Fast-forward seven days.

Joey Wiginton will be Tallassee’s next mayor.

There is an old adage. “When it rains it pours.” That was the case in Tallassee’s season opener on Friday night.

The Tallassee Municipal Election is next week. On Tuesday, Aug. 26, citizens will elect the next mayor. Plus, two city council races will be decided.

With a week of work in, all is well at Tallassee Elementary School. Shanikka Beacher enters her 17th year at TES, the last eight as principal.

The high school football regular season kicks off this week. Tallassee, coming off a 9-3 season, will face Montgomery Academy on Friday.

The annual “Tiger Night” will showcase all the purple and gold on Friday, Aug. 15 at the recently renovated J.E. “Hot” O’Brien Stadium.

Elvis is coming back to the Mount Vernon. Actually, it’s Kenneth Loomis, but he looks the part.
