The Tallassee baseball team got some work in during spring break with three doubleheaders to start the week. All three were lopsided wins as the Tigers improved to 9-9 on the season.
Tallassee outscored the opposition 99-1. All games were run-rule contests ending in four innings or less.
“This week was great for a number of reasons,” said head coach John Goodman. “Everyone got to pitch and did an excellent job. Six games and several no-hitters and not allowing an earned run.”
Tallassee got complete games from all of its pitchers. Avery Brantley had a perfect game against area foe Booker T. Washington, striking out all nine batters faced. Brandon Goodman completed the sweep of the Eagles with a no-hitter.
Hudson Timmerman tossed a no-hitter of his own against Bullock County. Cason Hornsby pitched a one-hitter in the night cap against the Hornets.
Jack Butler threw a three-hit shutout against Percy Julian. Hamp Love also three-hit the Phoenix allowing just one unearned run.
Timmerman and Brue Milner had two homeruns apiece over the three days, one for each being of the inside-the-park variety. The Tigers totaled 54 hits in all.

“Our lineup is starting to come around from top to bottom, scoring runs and battling every at-bat,” Goodman added, “It really gives us some confidence going into next week against Catholic.”
It will be an area series versus the Knights, who are 14-4 and ranked No. 10 in Class 4A in the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll. Prep Baseball Alabama has them at No. 5.
“They are playing great baseball right now and we need to be on top of our game.”
Game dates have changed from the original schedule. The first game of the series will be in Tallassee on Tuesday at 5. The two will play a doubleheader on Wednesday in Montgomery starting at 2.
Goodman encouraged Tiger fans to be at Southside Field on Tuesday.
“We need a great and loud crowd.”
