Chamber Sets New Date for Banquet

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee Chamber of Commerce has changed its date for the annual awards banquet. It has moved from late February to March 2. It will be from 6-8 p.m. at the National Guard Armory.

“Mayor (Joey) Wiginton would not be able to attend the February date,” said executive director Carmen Rodgers. “It will be on a Monday.”

Nominations are still being reviewed for all awards: Business of the Year, President’s Award, Francis Wagnon, Making a Difference and Lifetime Achievement. Rodgers suggests e-mailing suggestions to chamber@tallasseechamber.com.

“We’ve had some already sent in and would like some more. Those will be open for about ten more days. The Francis Wagnon Award is pretty much our volunteer of the year. Francis Wagnon was a major volunteer in our community. She lived right next to the Methodist church here in Tallassee.”

1220 Cafe will cater the event.

“Bring your appetite,” Rodgers said. “Bring your group. We will have a silent auction as well.”
