The Tallassee Tigers flag football team hit the same roadblock in the playoffs as it did in its inaugural season last year. It was on Vaughn Road in Montgomery at Catholic. Just like last season, the Tigers came up short by just six points.
The defending 1A-5A champs beat Tallassee 13-7 to advance to the semifinals. It was in the semis last year when the Knights topped the same THS team 6-0.
It was Tallassee’s first loss, ending the season with a 12-1 record.

Catholic (20-4) set the tone early with a touchdown on the opening drive for a 7-0 lead. They added another score in the final minute of the first half to take a 13-0 lead at intermission.
Tallassee did not get on the scoreboard until the 2:31 mark of the fourth quarter with a touchdown pass from Cheyann Easterling to Kam Tate of 12 yards. The Tigers got the ball back in the final minute, but an interception ended their comeback hopes and season.
“Catholic has a good team and a really good defense,” THS head coach Pat Love said. “We did have over 200 yards. I was proud of the way we competed.”
The two teams combined for nine interceptions. Tate had two picks on defense. Easterling had one.
Easterling was 16-of-35 passing for 196 yards. Tate caught five balls for 68 yards. Reese Gough had four receptions for 47 yards. London O’Neal had four catches for 44. Marlee Osborne had two more for 36.
“We lose three seniors,” said Love, whose team is 24-3-1 over the last two seasons. “We’ve got the majority coming back. It looks good for next year.”
