Tallassee’s Brue Milner will be attending Georgia Tech on a baseball scholarship. The two-time all-state catcher is a junior, so he still has two years of high school ball to play.
“It makes you quit stressing about it as much,” Milner said on making the early decision. “My first thought was Auburn. (Georgia Tech) offered me a full scholarship. Once I got on campus, I was like, this is where I want to be.”
Milner hit a team-best .489 for Tallassee last season with five homeruns and 40 RBIs. He threw out 12 runners and added three more outs on pickoffs.
“Tech has a lot of players who have gone on to the big leagues as catchers. They’re a great catching school.”

Milner has not ruled out opportunities that may arise with the Major League Draft.
“If the money’s right, that’s obviously something you have to think about. Knowing if that doesn’t happen, I can go to a great school like Georgia Tech is awesome.”
Still, with two more years at Tallassee remaining, Milner has his sights on a state championship. The Tigers have reached the quarterfinals the past two seasons.
“Winning a ring is the end goal,” he said. “Making another deep run in the playoffs (would be) awesome.”
