Girls Improve to 10-0, Playoffs Next

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee flag football team has run the table in the regular season. The girls beat Marbury 20-0 on Tuesday and are now 10-0 with the post-season starting next week.

The shutout was the third straight and the eighth time in ten games that the Tigers have held opponents to six points or less.

“They’ve been sound,” head coach Pat Love said of his team’s defensive play. “They stay at home. Our two rushers, Abbi (Carwile) and Rodericka (Green), get after it. They make the quarterback make quick decisions.”

The THS defense limited the Bulldogs to 71 total yards and got interceptions by Carwile and Kam Tate.

Cheyann Easterling ran for two touchdowns and passed for another. She was 11 of 24 for 106 yards through the air and ran eight times for 53 more. Marlee Osborne had five receptions for 59 yards and a score.

Tallassee enters the playoffs as the No. 4 ranked team in Class 1A-5A according to MaxPreps. The girls are No. 6 in the al.com poll.

“It’s no different,” Love said of playoffs. “We’ve got to get better every day. Every round, you can’t take for granted.

Francis Marion will be the first-round opponent at J.E. “Hot” O’Brien Stadium on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 5:30 p.m.

Francis Marion is a very athletic team. You’ve got to figure out how to survive.”
