At the Monday night city council meeting, the City of Tallassee made a move to revert back to an original policy on the collection of leaves.
“The council voted to remove the requirement for homeowners to bag their leaves,” councilman Bill Hall noted in an email to his constituents. “Effective immediately, you may pile up your leaves by the street, and they will be picked up on the normal day the truck runs.
“Please bear in mind what caused this to be implemented in the first place. If you have a storm drain that connects to your property, please ensure you select a location as far as possible from the drain to put your leaves. This will help prevent the sewage from clogging up.”

The ordinance requiring leaves to be bagged was enacted in July of 2022. The city does curbside pickup of leaves and limbs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays in West Tallassee and Wednesdays and Thursdays in East Tallassee.
