Tallassee’s final regular season home game was a tough 45-14 defeat at the hands of Handley High School. It was Senior Night with 19 senior players being recognized before the kickoff.
The Tigers (3-4/2-3) fell behind with early miscues and were unable to recover.
“We turned the ball over, gave up a punt return for a touchdown,” THS head coach L.A. O’Neal said. “When you’re playing good teams, you can’t afford to do that.”
Handley (7-1/5-0) led 28-0 at halftime.
Tallassee got on the scoreboard on the opening drive of the second half when Trent Morris connected with Cortland Roberts on a 4th and goal from the 7. The Tigers other score came on a 59-yard pass from Morris to Jaiden Gordon.
Gordon had 99 receiving yards on five receptions. Roberts had 76 yards on four catches. Roberts add 71 return yards.
Morris was 13-of-22 for 210 yards with two TD passes and two interceptions. Tallassee was held to just 22 rushing yards.

“We’ve got to close out to get that fourth place spot,” O’Neal added.
Friday’s game at St. James will decide Tallassee’s post-season fate with the winner clinching the region’s No. 4 seed.
WTLS – Score 94.7/Fun 101.1 and Tallassee Times TV on YouTube will broadcast from Montgomery with a 6 p.m. airtime. Kickoff will be at 7:00.
