It’s homecoming week in Tallassee. Students and the returning class of 2006 are looking forward to a busy week.
“I’m super excited about homecoming week and want to enjoy every moment,” said Bess Bosch, Tallassee High School senior. “It’s such a long but fun week and since it’s my last one, I really want to take it all in.”
Fellow THS senior Nathan Mason, student body president, agrees.
“I’m really looking forward to participating in all the traditions,” he said. “It’s kind of crazy to think about how this is my last homecoming as a Tallassee student.”
Each class will start float building on Monday afternoon and participate in spirit-themed days throughout the week.
THS welcomes back the Class of 2006. Derek Scott is an alum who will be taking part in the festivities.
“Homecoming is always a special time to bring the community together,” Scott said. “I’m most looking forward to seeing my old classmates. There’s nothing quite like the energy of homecoming week in Tallassee. It’s a mix of nostalgia and excitement.
“This year is extra special since my son is in high school and will be able to be a part of it. I’ve got a few surprises up my sleeve that will be sure to make this homecoming stand out from others in the past.”

The candlelight ceremony and bonfire will be on Thursday at the high school beginning at 7 p.m. The pep rally will start at 8:30 a.m. on Friday followed by the alumni reception. The parade begins at 2 p.m.
Tallassee City Schools Superintendent Dr. Brock Nolin spoke about another tradition to expect.
“Be ready for the toilet paper,” he said. “The class returning understands how special (homecoming) is.”
The week wraps up with the crowning of the homecoming queen at the football game on Friday night. Pregame activities begin at 6:30. Tallassee plays Cleburne County at 7.
Last year, homecoming fell during fall break.
“They were able to do all the homecoming festivities in the afternoon,” head coach L.A. O’Neal said of his team. “Now we’ve got to make sure we get focused at practice.”
WTLS – Score 94.7/Fun 101.1 and Tallassee Times TV on YouTube will broadcast from J.E. “Hot” O’Brien Stadium. Airtime will be at 6.
