Flag Team Dominates in Opener

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee flag football Tigers started the 2025 season with a 46-6 win at Loachapoka. The game was not only the opener but also the first region game.

“Anytime you get a region win, it’s good,” said THS head coach Pat Love. “We came out and showed some nerves on offense, but we settled down after the first quarter and played pretty good.”

Tallassee had a balanced attack in piling up 165 yards passing along with another 150 on the ground.

Cheyann Easterling has taken over at quarterback for the now graduated Regan Easterwood, who helped lead the Tigers to the semifinals in the program’s first season last year.

Easterling ran for 85 yards and tossed three touchdown passes. Marlee Osborne caught a TD pass and ran for another score. Reece Gough and London O’Neal also had TD catches. Jaaliyah Williams had 65 yards rushing including one to paydirt of 27 yards.

Bottom row (left to right): Abbi Carwile, Aliza Friendly, Jaaliyah Williams, Ny’asia Gordon, Rodericka Green. Middle row (l-r): Kam Tate, Jordyn Morris, Jakira Northcutt, Jhala Anderson, Marlee Osborne, Mykah McKeithen. Back row (l-r): Cheyann Easterling, Reece Gough, London O’Neal, Lila Kate Fulgham, Makaila Miliner.

Kam Tate had scores on both sides of the ball with a rushing TD and a pick six. Abbi Carwile led the defense with five sacks and eight tackles overall.

The Indians’ only score was an interception return for a touchdown at the end of the first half.

“It was a good first game,” Love noted. “(We’ve) just got to get better every week.”

Tallassee is back on the road next Tuesday, Sept. 9 against Valley. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
