The Tallassee Municipal Election is next week. On Tuesday, Aug. 26, citizens will elect the next mayor. Plus, two city council races will be decided.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. East Tallassee residents will vote at the Community Library. On the west side of the river, polling locations are at Tallaweka Baptist Church and God’s Congregational Holiness Church.
“Before heading to the polls, I would encourage Alabama voters to visit our website and verify their voter registration status and polling location,” Secretary of State Wes Allen said. “Voters can also review information on Alabama’s important photo voter ID requirements on AlabamaVotes.gov.”

Mayor Sarah Hill is facing Joey Wiginton in the mayor’s race. Hill took office on July 1, 2022.
“Tallassee is making real progress in every part of our city,” Hill said. “Working with our council, we’ve secured over $15 million to replace aging gas lines, improve roadways, and upgrade utilities—investments that keep our community safe. We’ve added new lighting at sports complexes and improved playgrounds, and we’re preparing to build a new community center that will serve residents of all ages. These projects are about more than bricks and mortar—they strengthen families, support local growth, and move Tallassee forward. Together, we are building a safer, stronger, and more vibrant community for today and for generations to come.”
Wiginton spoke on why he chose to enter the race.
“I want to be mayor of Tallassee because we are in a fork in the road,” he said. “Either we stay stagnant, or we move this town forward in a big way. We are going to open the lake and the river up. People are going to come to see and be part of this movement. I hope you will vote for me as we bring this community together, not as East and West Tallassee, but as TALLASSEE.”
Both candidates gave presentations and fielded questions at separate forums on Tuesday night.
