The annual “Tiger Night” will showcase all the purple and gold on Friday, Aug. 15 at the recently renovated J.E. “Hot” O’Brien Stadium. Youth teams will begin taking the field at 5:30. The high school varsity and junior varsity teams will close out the night with a four-quarter scrimmage against Jemison.
“We start with the TYFL freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior teams and cheerleaders,” said Tallassee High School head football coach and athletic director L.A. O’Neal. “They’ll get a chance to run a couple of plays. The cheerleaders will do their routines.”
All age groups including Southside Middle School will perform for the fans. The Pride of Tallassee band, dance team and cheerleaders will also be on display.
“At about 6:30, we’ll start warming up for an actual football game,” O’Neal added. “We’ll play the Jemison Panthers. The varsity will play three quarters. All special teams will be dead with no rush. We’ll play one quarter with the JV guys.”

O’Neal is glad to be getting in a game before the first official game which start next week.
“It gives you a chance to see what you can do to get better. You get those first-game jitters out of the way.”
Tickets are $5 each. WTLS – Score 94.7/Fun 101.1 will broadcast the activities. Video will be on Tallassee Times TV on YouTube.
