The Second Annual “Sounds and Sirens” Downtown Music Festival will take place on Saturday, June 14. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Blane Rudd, Playnice and the Sweet Young’uns will provide live music. Food trucks will be on site. Tickets are $20 per person. Kids 12 and under get in free. Proceeds benefit the Tallassee and Friendship Fire Departments.
“These are very well-known bands,” said Eric Jones, Tallassee Fire Department Chief. “I’ve had so many people call and ask, ‘Are the Sweet Young’uns playing?’ This year makes 59 years for them. They did the street dance for 16 consecutive years.”

There is a chance of rain. The Mount Vernon Performing Arts Center is available as a potential back-up venue.
“We’re just going to have to play it by ear,” said Jones. “It’s a fundraiser for the fire departments, but overall it’s getting people together. Bring you chair, your coolers, no glass bottles. Come and have a good time.”
