The Tallassee municipal election is this year. Qualifying for candidates begins on Tuesday, June 10.

The Mount Vernon Performing Arts Center will open its doors to meet and greet with candidates for school board, city council and mayor on Tuesday from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Citizens and those planning on running for office are encouraged to attend.

Joey Wiginton, who announced his mayoral candidacy earlier this year, is one of the organizers of the event.

“We will have light refreshments,” he said. “This will be a great time to hear some of the needs for Tallassee and make it a better place.”
